What is AP Diploma Program?
The Advanced Placement (AP) program, launched in the United States and also known as the Advanced Placement program, is a comprehensive and long-standing system that promotes high standards in education on a global scale. The AP program is implemented in over 60 countries outside of the United States, offering high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses and potentially earn credit or exemption from certain university courses.
When applying to international universities, students who have taken AP courses and performed well can demonstrate academic readiness during the admissions process. Students who succeed in AP exams gain an advantage when applying to universities and, once accepted, may have the opportunity to skip certain courses. This can make it easier to pursue a double major or graduate faster.
Students participating in the AP diploma program in schools follow the Turkish curriculum while also taking AP courses. Therefore, they may occasionally require additional support. At The Canadian Institute, we offer courses aimed at supporting students in AP subjects.

Each AP exam has two main sections: multiple-choice questions and a combination of short-answer or essay-type questions. The exam duration and the number of questions vary depending on the subject.
AP exams are held once a year in May. A student can take more than one AP exam or retake the same exam in the following year.
